This is a quiet picture book embedded in the natural world. The story arcs from dusk to dawn, following nocturnal animals through their busy night. Meet possums, a badger, a bat, and many other critters. Factual information is woven through out the book and I hope readers will sense the interconnectedness of the animals, as well as how time moves (even when many of us are asleep!) The book comes with a CD audio version of the book, as well as a read along ebook for your home computer.
Christine Sykes' white on black illustrations are incredibly unique. She took great care with every detail and each animal seems to fly, jump, waddle or hop off the page. They are evocative and adorable all at once. Please, check out the illustrator's web site to see more of her work.
